Gene Khalimsky serves as Vice President of Commercial Lending at Lakeside Bank, bringing nearly three decades of banking and lending expertise. He began his banking career in 1996 with Bank of America, where he developed a strong foundation across multiple banking disciplines, including branch management, consumer banking, personal banking, and commercial lending.
Throughout his distinguished career, Gene has held leadership positions with both national and community banks, including serving as Vice President of a Chicago-based de novo bank. He has successfully managed substantial and diverse commercial loan portfolios, with extensive experience in construction lending, multifamily financing, commercial and industrial (C&I) lending, and Small Business Administration (SBA) lending. Prior to joining Lakeside Bank, he held key lending roles at First Eagle Bank and Wintrust.
Gene is recognized for his entrepreneurial mindset, strong communication skills, and relationship-driven approach to commercial banking. Passionate about helping businesses grow, he is committed to delivering exceptional client service and building long-term partnerships. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Gene enjoys spending time on the water with his family and supporting his children's pursuits. He proudly follows his son's wrestling career at both the national and international levels and supports his daughter's work in sports media covering University of Kentucky athletics and local collegiate sports. Gene is also actively involved in community service and charitable organizations.
Gene earned a Bachelor's degree in Finance and International Business from Elmhurst University and is fluent in both Russian and Ukrainian.
