Personal Banker – Fulltime (Elmhurst)

Lakeside Bank is a successful, growth-oriented financial institution, celebrating our 50th anniversary, with 6 branches in Chicago. And we are excited to announce our new Elmhurst branch.  We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, positive, service oriented professional Personal Banking Officer to be part of this new branch!

This position will support the Branch by performing a wide range of responsibilities which include:

  • Opening new accounts
  • Cross selling bank products/services
  • Resolving questions for customers on their accounts
  • Actively developing new outside business

Qualified applicants must be flexible with scheduling and be available to work Saturdays.

Personal Banking Officer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains thorough knowledge of retail and commercial bank products and services, including pricing, bank policies and government regulations in order to respond to customer inquiries and provide service to accounts.
  • Identifies customer needs, explains product features in terms of benefit to the customer and recommends the product or service which best meets the customer’s needs.
  • Sells or participates in the cross-selling of bank products and services following established guidelines and business procedures.
  • Sells bank products, including but not limited to demand deposit accounts, money market accounts, certificates of deposits, personal loans, and line of credit accounts, cash management products and services, as well as other personal banking services such as positive pay, remote deposit, mobile deposit, merchant services, etc.
  • Opens and closes accounts in accordance with established bank procedures.
  • Researches and resolves routine account problems or errors.
  • Investigates files, documents or reports on transactions to determine the problem and cause of action to be taken.
  • Authorizes overdrafts, approves checks for cashing and processes transactions within established limits.
  • Develops ideas to promote new business and increase customer base.
  • Fosters community and professional relationships with retail customers, local businessman, trade organizations, service clubs, etc. to identify the credit and other financial needs of the community and promote the sale of the bank’s full range of products and services.
  • Takes requests for check orders and ATM cards and re-orders.
  • May occasionally assist customers behind the teller line if necessary.

The qualified candidate will have:

  • A High School diploma or GED.
  • 3 years previous banking or related experience.
  • Additional business or banking courses strongly preferred
  • Good understanding of Microsoft software, including Excel and Word.
  • Good oral communication skills, professional business writing skills, and the ability to interact well with the public.
